I felt okay about asking Len a personal question. My role was to offer music to Len, but I asked him a personal question. Was that okay? Why or why not?

I appreciate that you were careful in considering the propriety of asking, and my personal feeling is that it would depend on the nature of the question. Some questions might well be too personal, while others, such as yours, are actually designed to create a better, deeper way of you to be helpful. In this case, knowing some of his background could easily give you a deeper insight into the types of music/songs that might resonate more deeply with Len and would give him a fuller enjoyment than he has already experienced.

Your comments are so right on and thoughtful......YES Len's story needed to be told and with his disclosure about his ex-wife, daughter, granddaughter, I felt okay to ask about his work life. Story, as you know, is so very important to all of us but especially to those whose lives are ending. Did I matter?
