On the way home from Hospice, I stopped at Dad's Music Store, a kind of roadside shack, patched up and painted on the outside, very unlike Darby or Alexandria Music Stores, but like them on the inside, a feast of music and instruments crammed into a small space. Never judge a book by its cover. This applies to people, but also places! Where have you seen this play out? Comment below?

The quick, and not-meant-to-be cute, answer is nearly every day of my life, which is to acknowledge the richness of experience one derives from the concerted effort to leave one's eyes and heart open so that judgment can be avoided. And it's always so humbling when one finds oneself slipping back into a place of being judgmental. In photography there is a deity for this whose name is Humble God and whose function is to offer reminders - sometimes quite blunt and painful - when we've put back on our judging glasses. I suspect the Humble God (gender unknown) covers also for musicians and other artists. Your observation is appreciated and well-made.

Don, your comment is so touching, beautiful, elegantly stated. Humble God has and is directing every word and work of this story. I too am humbled by Her/His presence.
