When we stopped singing and playing, small conversations started up among family members. I thought this was a good time to excuse myself and allow the family to enjoy their privacy. The atmosphere had changed dramatically. Knowing when to stop the music is crucial. The miracle is that the music continues to work its magic even after it ceases. Are you affected by any other medium as much as you are by music? Share your thoughts below...

I love your commentary and description of what happens to the family interactions and the atmosphere in the room when you play. It sounds so natural and so intimate. It makes me want to have you in my home playing music as well. Thanks so much for sharing. Your words radiate in my heart and make my heart smile.

Music has to be the most wonderful medium in my thinking, considering all the different ways it can affect us. Even my young grandchildren ask for and appreciate the calming effect of classical music when we are in the car! They ask for your CD constantly; it lifts our spirits immeasurably!

It's funny but for some reason I always sing (or hum) the last hymn of a worship service the remainder of the day. It gets in my soul. Sometimes I remember other songs as well which I love.

Music has always been my passion. At my age neither my voice nor my piano playing is very good, but my hearing is just fine. Music is one of the many things your mother and I shared especially at church and again as we traveled together in Scandinavia.
